Course Description
Addressing chronic pain, joint and spinal inflammation, and musculoskeletal injury sits at the core of chiropractic practice. However, inflammatory processes drive more than just pain and are known to fuel a number of chronic, age-related diseases, of which 50% of the US population is afflicted. With rising scrutiny regarding long-terms risks of NSAIDs, many patients are seeking non-pharmacological options for pain relief and disease modification. Well-researched herbs such as turmeric, Boswellia, willow bark and more, offer an herbal advantage of both symptomatic relief and support for overall healthy aging. This session will explore evidence-based botanical interventions for both acute pain management and long-term care solutions that can be easily integrated into practice.
Learning Objectives
- Identify which botanicals would be most appropriate for different types of pain and inflammation.
- Identify the mechanism of action and “side benefits” of key botanicals for pain, including turmeric, Boswellia, corydalis, and willow bark.
- Create a comprehensive supplemental and dietary protocol for personalized pain management for patients.
