    Coretta Anthony-Smith Esq.

    Coretta Anthony-Smith is a native Floridian, born and raised in Naples, Florida.  After graduating from high school, Coretta attended Georgetown University where she earned her B.S. in Marketing.  Thereafter, she worked in the insurance industry learning the ins-and-outs of the insurance industry and the inner workings of insurance companies.  In 1996, Coretta began law school at the University of Florida, Levin College of Law, where she graduated in 1999.  After graduating from law school, Coretta worked for two prominent insurance defense firms representing several major insurance carriers.  In 2004, Coretta stopped representing insurance companies and changed her focus to representing consumers and individuals in claims against insurance companies.

    Coretta is also licensed to practice law in all counties in the State of Florida, as well as the Federal Courts for the Northern, Southern and Middle Districts of Florida.  She also serves on the Florida Bar’s Florida Rules of Civil Procedure Committee and previously served on the Florida Bar’s Small Claims Rules Committee (2010-2017).  Coretta was also a contributing editor on the Tenth and Eleventh Editions of The Florida Bar’s, Florida Automobile Insurance Law, No-Fault Insurance (2018 and 2019).

    Coretta also believes in giving back to the community and works on many charitable events.  She is currently a board member of Saving Our Sons, an organization dedicated to strengthening male leadership in underprivileged areas.  She has also received several awards for her community service and generous sponsorship donations.

    Matthew Antonucci, DC, DACNB, FACFN, FABCDD, FABVR, FABNN, FABBIR, FICC studied for his Doctorate in Chiropractic at Life University, Dr. Antonucci became fascinated with the nervous system, particularly the brain, of humankind. He began taking extra-curricular neurology classes to understand the brain and nervous system better, and became enthralled with the study of neurology. He has a professional Master’s degree in neuroscience; has been awarded a diplomate in the sub-specialty of chiropractic neurology; is a certified fellow in multiple specialties: vestibular disorders, brain injury rehabilitation, nutrition and neurochemistry, childhood developmental disorders, and functional neurology. He has been inducted as a fellow into the exclusive and honorable International College of Chiropractic. Over the years, Dr. Antonucci had the great fortune of having spent thousands of hours as a first-assist in clinical rounds with Professor Frederick R. Carrick, a pioneer in the field of clinical neuroscience and rehabilitation. Throughout that time, he was constantly being guided and empowered to pursue clinical excellence.

    Dr. Antonucci finds particular interest in treating traumatic brain injuries (TBIs), childhood developmental disorders, vestibular rehabilitation, movement disorders, sports and neurological performance enhancement, degenerative conditions, and conducting clinical research.

    Dr. Sabrina Atkins studied for her Bachelor of Science, Masters of Sports Injury Management, and Doctorate of Chiropractic Care at Life University in Marietta, Georgia. She graduated in 2001 from Life University with honors.

    Dr. Atkins has extensive experience working with athletes and athletic organizations offering years of expertise in the field of sports injury management and performance enhancement.

    Many are familiar with concussion diagnosis when sports are involved. But few think of concussions when witnessing falls on the park, in the airport, at the grocery store, or at home. As chiropractors ARE seeing AND TREATING concussed patients, do we know the ethical boundaries in place when witnessing, diagnosing, treating these injuries? Micky Collins published this article in 2016 that looked at concussion approaches from a multidisciplinary perspective in which he referenced his 6 subtypes of concussion: 1.Migraine (+ Autonomic and Sleep), 2. Affective (Mood), 3. Cognitive, 4. Cervical, 5. Oculomotor/Vision, 6. Vestibular Attendees will learn what a concussed individual goes through from the time they get injured until they are diagnosed. As well, all chiropractors will be reminded of how each discipline looks at and has the authority to treat concussion through their scope.

    Dr. Joseph Clark is currently chief science officer for Inneuratctive, a producer and supplier of neurovision and cognitive performance training, best known for their Dynavision trainer. He is a Professor of Neurology for the Carrick Institute, a former Professor of Neurology at the University of Cincinnati, and a Certified Athletic Trainer. He has 30 years of experience concerning metabolic and neuro-related disorders as well as over 150 peer-reviewed publications. He has maintained posts at University of Cincinnati, Michigan State, University of Paris, Oxford University, and the Carrick Institute. He is a renowned national speaker and expert in the field of acquired brain injury.     Dr. Dubarry graduated from NCC Chicago in 1982, practiced for 10 years in France at a time where you could be jailed for illegal exercise of medicine. He published in 1986 one of the first book on chiropractic in French in a major publishing house. He came back to practice in the States in 1992. He then travelled for 15 years over fifty times to South America and initiated in Chile the creation of the first chiropractic college with a full time Cursus. He published a series of three books (translated in three languages) on spinal manipulation in 2017.  Doctor Dubarry works in close with Keiser University in West Palm Beach, Institute Franco European of Chiropractic in Paris, and Toulouse (IFEC), University Central Santiago Chile.   • Michael Hoffmann

    Michael Hoffmann MD, PhD, FCP(SA), FAAN

    Michael Hoffmann obtained his medical degree (MBBch) at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, and neurological subspecialty fellowship training in stroke from Columbia University in New York City. This was followed by two senior doctorates, one in cerebrovascular medicine (MD) and one in behavioral health (PhD). His main areas of research have concerned cognitive disorders after stroke and how to improve brain health and fitness based on scientific principles and evolutionary insights. He is currently a Professor of Neurology with the University of Central Florida and has recently served in a number of administrative leadership positions, such as Associate Dean of Academic Assessment (USF) and Chief of Neurology Services and Director of the Stroke Center at the Orlando VA Medical Center. He has current licenses in Florida and Kentucky and previously in Canada, Germany, and South Africa. He is also a cognitive neurology consultant at the Roskamp Neuroscience Institute in Sarasota, Florida where he focuses on frontotemporal disorders, traumatic brain injury and neuro-toxicological syndromes such as Gulf War Illness. Peer-reviewed publications currently number 230 and he has also authored four books: Assembly of the Executive Mind, Brain Beat, Cognitive Conative and Behavioral Neurology and Clinical Mentation Evaluation, a connectome approach. He also has received several physician-initiated grant research support awards.

    Dr. April Lee graduated cum laude from Palmer West Chiropractic College and began her chiropractic career in Carlsbad, California. She practiced as an Associate Doctor for three years prior to opening her own practice in Niceville, Florida in 2008. Opening a practice increased her responsibility for both business and clinical decisions and revealed a need for additional guidance. As the good book says, ‘where there is a multitude of counselors, there is success.’ In keeping with this advice, she enlisted the expert services of KMC University to assist her with building a compliant and successful cash -based clinic. For over fourteen years she specialized in treating pediatric patients and pregnant mothers. In 2020 she sold her practice and joined the KMC University family as a consultant, focusing on helping other doctors to benefit from the many resources at KMC University.     Nathan Schilaty, DC, PhD, is the Lincoln Endowed Chair of Chiropractic & Biomechanics Research and an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery & Medical Engineering at the University of South Florida. He received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Parker University January 2007 and practiced for five years in Loveland, CO. During that time, he continuously was asking questions about how the treatments worked on a neuromusculoskeletal level. Consequently, he enrolled in a Neuroscience program and received his PhD degree in 2014. Thereafter, he received postdoctoral research training at the Ohio State University and Mayo Clinic with emphases on sports medicine, biomechanics, and neuromechanics. While at Mayo Clinic, he became an Assistant Professor and his research included NIH-funded and mentored training via T32, LRP, and K12 mechanisms. He continues his innovative research of human motion and neural control at the University of South Florida with funded research by the NIH, industry, and foundations.     Course Description 

    Although 15% of Americans are currently under care of a chiropractor, most Americans know Chiropractic care for reducing pain with a non-pharmacological approach in 2 major areas: low back pain and headaches. Did you know that more people suffer from migraine headaches than diabetes + asthma combined in this country? This class takes a hands-on approach for chiropractic attendees to widen their consideration of diagnosis when this very common symptom is presented. Attendees will be able to better avoid medical treatment errors when they are looking for red flags that this multifaceted approach considers.

    Course Description 

    This course will provide an interactive overview of the current data collected on various populations (pediatric to geriatric). The attendees will be able to communicate the important principles of research study design, data interpretation, limitations, and articulate the findings to their peers, colleagues, and patients.
