  • John Lockenour

    John Lockenour DC, DABCO, DABCA

    Dr. John Lockenour is a 1977 graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic. After completing his graduate degree, he completed two diplomas through the American Board of Chiropractic Orthopedists and the American Board of Chiropractic Acupuncture. Additional certification in chiropractic rehabilitation, manipulation under anesthesia, and applied diagnostic testing give him a vast background that he brings to teaching and practice. Dr. Lockenour built one of the largest and most successful chiropractic practices in Indiana. As vice president of the Indiana State Chiropractic Association, he was the only doctor to receive chiropractor of the year twice, once in 1991 and again in 2000. For the last 40 years, Dr. Lockenour has taught postgraduate courses in orthopedics, whiplash injuries, physical therapy, nutrition, and Acupuncture. He was previously an Assistant Professor at Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida and now maintains a practice in Port Orange Florida. His informative and motivational speaking style makes him a very popular speaker and sought-after practitioner.

    Objectives:

    * Provide state-required continuing education for the chiropractic physician
    * Identify psychosocial risk, management skills, psychological concerns, and the duties of the treating doctor

    Description:   During this 2-hour class the following topics will be presented to identify Neurological Disorders in the chiropractic acupuncture practice that may lead to increased risk or harm to the patient. Neurological Disorders comprise a vast variety of different conditions that require a good understanding of common physiology and how disorders occur. Good diagnostic skills are necessary to determine the extent and mechanism of involvement. Knowing when to treat and when to refer to other healthcare providers is needed.

Evaluation methods in addition to treatment will be incorporated. For millennia, Chinese medicine physicians and Chiropractic Providers have been involved in the evaluation and treatment of neurological disorders. This class will discuss common causes and treatment strategies for optimal outcomes.
