This course will introduce cannabinoid therapy basics and provide a discussion of legal and ethical considerations when implementing CBD and other cannabinoids into healthcare practices. Topics to be covered include an intro to the endocannabinoid system (ECS) and how CBD and other cannabinoids interact with it. Cannabinoid delivery systems will be discussed as well as evidence-based therapeutic applications/protocols, risks of use/contraindications, and potential drug interactions. Considering the recent popularity of CBD and other cannabis products, understanding the difference between cannabis, hemp, and marijuana is necessary in order to navigate federal “gray areas” and avoid potential malpractice pitfalls.
