Emerging Technologies for Pain Management and Improved Outcomes

This course will review the science and clinical application of the emerging technologies of shockwave, laser and TECAR (Transfer of Energy Capacitive and Resistive) as part of a multi-modal approach to pain management and patient care. Understanding the indications, contraindications and best practices of these novel modalities will enable the clinician the ability to obtain improved outcomes from the acute through chronic patient. Clinical case studies with the layering of these technologies will be presented to ensure an applicable understanding of the material.

Learning Objectives

  1. Understand the physiology of shockwave, laser and TECAR and therapies
  2. Differentiate focused versus radial shockwave, photobiomodulation versus laser, and CRET versus TECAR3
  3. Learn the appropriate use of these modalities for pain management and soft tissue remodeling
  4. Gain an understanding of integrating advanced modalities into general Chiropractic practice for improved outcome
  5. Understand the indications and contraindications of shockwave, laser and TECAR
  6. Understanding layering of shockwave, laser and TECAR with active care
