    Kristine Tohtz DC, DABCA, LAc, CACCP, IFMCP

    Dr. Kris Tohtz graduated magna cum laude from the National University of Health Sciences in April 2001. While attending chiropractic school, she also began working toward a Diplomate in Acupuncture and in August 2009 received her Diplomate in Acupuncture from the American Chiropractic Association’s. After attending two supervised medical internships in Beijing and Hangzhou, China, she found advanced studies to be warranted and obtained her Master of Science in Acupuncture (MsAc) through the National University of Health Sciences graduating summa cum laude in August 2014. She has completed an advanced certification in Pregnancy and Pediatric care through the International Chiropractic Pediatric and is a trained post-partum doula. She also successfully completed training to become a practitioner in the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy. She teaches continuing education to healthcare practitioners of all types on the topics of acupuncture, dry needling, pregnancy, nutrition, and pediatric care. She has also earned a certification through the prestigious Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM).  She has served the ACA Acupuncture Council in all positions for over 10 years and is presently helping the ACA Pediatric Council coordinate the educational components of their Diplomate program.

    Dr. Tohtz has been a clinician for over 20 years and is the owner and lead clinician at Serenity Family Wellness, a managing partner at Fusion Care, LLC, the Educational Co-Coordinator for the ACA Pediatric Council’s Diplomate Program and is the Acupuncture Clinician though the Veteran Administration at Post St. Lucie, Florida.  In her free time, she loves hiking, gardening, cooking and spending time with her husband and dog.

    For many chiropractic physicians, we did not have a lot of time for hands-on practice for TCM accessory techniques of healing. In this sessions, we will focus on the uses of cupping (ba gua), moxibustion and gua sha – how, when and why to chose these techniques, reduce risk and how to apply them safely for your patients. 

    Learning Objectives 

    1. Cupping / Ba Gua: Define the history of cupping / myofascial decompression
    2. Explain the safety and parameter for successful application of cupping or myofascial decompression in a clinical setting
    3. Review necessities for charting, treatment plans and coding for cupping / myofascial decompression
    4. Practical application of cupping to be practiced in class for various conditions

    Course Description

    For many chiropractic physicians, we did not have a lot of time for hands-on practice for TCM accessory techniques of healing. In this session, we will focus on the uses of cupping (ba gua), moxibustion and gua sha – how, when, and why to choose these techniques and how to apply them safely for your patients.

    Learning Objectives

    • Define the history of moxibustion (moxa) and gua sha
    • Explain the safety and parameter for the successful application of moxa and gua sha in a clinical setting

    There is an epidemic of overprescribing of birth control, anti depressants, HRT, bio identical hormones, thyroid medication, stimulants, and many other unnecessary medications or procedures that are no more than a dangerous piece of duct tape put over the female “check engine light”.

    If we don’t talk to our women patients, who will?   Now is the time.  We are surrounded by colleagues who are leaders in women’s nutrition.  We must start working as a team.  If you do not want to do this type of work, that’s fine, but make sure you are helping them find the right person.

    Women’s health issues are complicated and messy.  But the body wants to be well and often it takes a few small steps to get her moving in the right direction.  There are no short cuts but there are REAL solutions.  It is time to take back our health and all decisions surrounding it.
