The Importance of Polysaccharides for Cognition, Immune Function, and Other Mechanisms of Action

This lecture will feature why certain polysaccharides are crucial for health. Dr. Lewis will discuss the results of his extensive line of research on how polysaccharides modulate the immune system and other organ systems in the context of patients with Alzheimer’s, HIV, MS, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and healthy adults, including his groundbreaking research in moderate-to-severe Alzheimer’s disease patients who showed improvements in cognition, immune function, inflammation, and stem cell production in response to taking a polysaccharide-based dietary supplement. Dr. Lewis will present the findings of all of these clinical trials that demonstrate the effectiveness of these polysaccharides that are unlike any other nutritional or conventional approaches to improving quality of life for those people afflicted with difficult-to-manage health challenges. All of Dr. Lewis’s findings have been published in leading peer-reviewed publications.

Learning Objectives

  • Attendees will learn why polysaccharides from aloe vera and rice bran are arguably the most efficacious phytonutrients known to science today.
  • Attendees will be able to describe the ability of polysaccharides to serve as key nutrients in host defense, repair, and regeneration through their immunomodulatory and antioxidant activities.
  • Attendees will learn how polysaccharides have been shown in clinical trials in Alzheimer’s, HIV, MS, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and healthy adults to improve overall quality of life, immune function, and cognition, among other outcomes.
