Dr. Lora Tanis, DC, DICCP, has dedicated her career to advancing chiropractic care for children and expectant mothers across the globe. She currently practices in Tallahassee, Florida, after serving the West Milford, New Jersey community in private practice for nearly three decades.
A graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic, Dr. Tanis earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1989 and completed her Diplomate in Clinical Chiropractic Pediatrics in 1996 through Palmer College and the International Chiropractors Association Council on Chiropractic Pediatrics. Her academic foundation began in pre-med studies at Scott College and Mott College before graduating from Lapeer East High School in Michigan.
Since 1999, Dr. Tanis has been a trusted member of the postgraduate faculty at Palmer College of Chiropractic and a lead instructor for the Diplomate in Clinical Chiropractic Pediatrics program, teaching across the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. She is a sought-after educator known for delivering dynamic seminars on pediatric and pregnancy care for Palmer College, state associations, national conventions, and international symposiums.
Her speaking career spans some of the profession’s most respected platforms, including the Building Bridges Symposium on Chiropractic & Pediatrics, the International Conference on the Science, Art and Philosophy of Chiropractic, and the World Federation Conference in Berlin. She has presented lectures, papers, and hands-on adjusting workshops at the Annual Conference on Chiropractic & Pediatrics for more than two decades, and she was honored to serve as commencement speaker for Palmer College’s graduating class in 2008.
Dr. Tanis has held numerous leadership positions throughout her career. She currently serves as President of the ICA Pediatric Council and sits on the Board of Directors for the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress. Her past roles include Advisor to the Council on Chiropractic Pediatrics, long-standing Chair of the ICA Council on Chiropractic Pediatrics, and Examiner for the International College of Chiropractic Pediatrics across multiple countries. She is also a reviewer for the Journal of Clinical Chiropractic Pediatrics and has contributed research and articles to JMPT, JCCP, the ICA Review, and other professional publications.
Her leadership and service have earned widespread recognition, including the Mabel Palmer Service Award, the Maxine McMullen Award, the ICA Pediatric Council Achievement Award, Chiropractor of the Year from the International Chiropractors Association, and induction as a Fellow in the Palmer Academy of Chiropractic. She is also a Distinguished Fellow of the ICA and a founding member of the ICA Pediatric Council.
