Course Description
This course will explore the athlete in motion. Diving into the mechanisms of injury, biomechanical factors, and structural faults that predispose an athlete to injury. Exploring assessment skills in the dissection of sport injuries of the hip, knee, ankle, and foot. As the course progresses, treatment concepts and rehabilitation protocols for the top sports injuries will be discussed and demonstrated.
Learning Objectives
- The learner will understand how understanding the mechanisms of injury will lead the physician towards a more accurate diagnosis and hence an effective treatment regimen.
- The learner will understand the difference between biomechanical factors and structural faults as predisposing factors in sports injuries of the hip
- The learner will gain knowledge of functional assessment tools to assist in diagnosing sports injuries of the lower extremity
- The learner will gain knowledge of the rehabilitation concepts and flow as the athlete returns to activity.
