Course Description
This course provides an in-depth review of spondylolysis and spondylolisthesis with emphasis on clinical presentation, diagnostic imaging, and evidence-informed management strategies. Special focus is placed on differentiating active versus inactive conditions and understanding the role of bone marrow fat in prognosis and treatment decision-making, particularly in athletic populations.
Learning Objectives
- Differentiate between spondylolysis and spondylolisthesis, including key etiological factors.
- Recognize clinical presentations and perform appropriate orthopedic testing, including the Stork (Micheli’s) Test.
- Interpret relevant imaging findings from plain film radiography and MRI.
- Develop management strategies for active versus inactive cases, including the use of spinal manipulation and bracing.
