Course Description 

Chiropractors will be briefed on the many recent legislative changes and potential impacts to their practices on both the state and federal level.  A Board of Chiropractic Medicine Declaratory Order will also be highlighted.  Attendees will be updated on the current case law that applies to their practices.  

Surprise PIP investigations happen regularly in Florida.  Chiropractors will see a PIP office investigation first-hand and will be educated on the laws surrounding PIP investigations and will receive counsel on how to best handle the PIP investigator when he/she arrives at the office.

PIP clawbacks are still occurring in Florida, impacting many doctors who treat accident victims.  This segment will show doctors an example of an actual PIP clawback meeting.  Doctors will receive counsel as to the red flags involved for PIP clawbacks and how to best avoid being targeted for a clawback.

Chiropractic malpractice claims and allegations, while occurring at a much lower level than medical malpractice claims, still hits chiropractic offices across the state.  Here you will see a chiropractic malpractice claim from A to Z and attendees will learn how to best prevent a claim from happening and what to do should one occur.

  1. Identify recent state legislative changes impacting the profession, and potential implications for chiropractors including the new EKG law, the MOBILE Act, the DC Escrow bill and the Nutritional injectable bill.
  2. Review the latest case law impacting the profession.
  3. Review the law around PIP investigations and how to handle them should an investigator show up at your office.
  4. Review the status of PIP clawbacks and how to best avoid getting targeted.
  5. Review the PIP law and how the auto insurers can claim PIP monies returned.
