Lisa Grassam-Smith DC
Dr. Lisa Grassam is a third-generation chiropractor, wellness advocate, and founder of Grassam Spine & Wellness in Stuart, Florida. With more than two decades of experience caring for patients and a lifelong passion for healthcare, Dr. Grassam has dedicated her career to helping people understand their bodies, improve their health, and live healthier, more active lives.
Dr. Grassam’s journey into healthcare began at an early age. She started working in her grandfather’s medical office at just 13 years old and later worked alongside her father. During college, she also gained experience in Obstetrics and Gynecology, assisting with examinations and minor surgical procedures. These early experiences helped shape her desire to become a physician and gave her a unique appreciation for compassionate, hands-on patient care.
Dr. Grassam earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of South Carolina before continuing her education at Life University in Marietta, Georgia, where she earned her Doctorate of Chiropractic in 1998. She moved to Stuart shortly afterward and established her practice, where she has continued to serve generations of patients and families.
Committed to lifelong learning, Dr. Grassam has continued her professional education in functional medicine and integrative wellness. She has also earned certification as a Forensic Auto Trauma Expert, expanding her knowledge and ability to evaluate injuries and health concerns associated with automobile accidents and traumatic events.
Her philosophy of care is simple: treat people the way you would want to be treated. Dr. Grassam believes that excellent healthcare begins with listening. She takes the time to understand each patient’s history, concerns, goals, and individual needs before developing a personalized approach to care.
At Grassam Spine & Wellness, Dr. Grassam’s approach extends beyond simply addressing symptoms. Her goal is to help patients understand the connection between the spine, nervous system, lifestyle, nutrition, movement, functional health, and overall wellness.
She believes the body has an incredible ability to heal and regulate itself when given the proper support.
Today, Grassam Spine & Wellness has grown into a comprehensive wellness practice offering chiropractic care alongside a variety of health and wellness services. The practice’s philosophy centers on individualized care, patient education, prevention, functional health, and helping each person work toward optimal health.
Dr. Grassam has also been deeply involved in the Stuart and Martin County community. Her community affiliations and service include the Soroptimist Club of Stuart, The Women’s Club of Stuart, and the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Through these organizations, she supports community service, women’s leadership, education, civic engagement, and initiatives that strengthen the local community.
She has also participated in community organizations, networking groups, educational events, and professional leadership, including serving as President of the Florida Chiropractic Association in 2024.
For Dr. Grassam, being a healthcare provider is about more than a profession-it is about relationships, service, education, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of the people she serves.
Her personal philosophy is reflected in one of her favorite messages: “You have to have a happy heart and go the extra mile every day, all day long, no matter what.”
Outside of the office, Dr. Grassam enjoys spending time with her children, going to church, staying active through strength training and cardio, participating in community activities, and continuing to educate herself and others about health, functional medicine, trauma care, and wellness.
Her mission remains the same as it has been throughout her career: to listen, educate, serve, and help people become the healthiest version of themselves.
