Neurological Dry Needling for Pain Management & Sports Rehabilitation (Foundation Course)
Regional Event: swStart Date: 11/23/2024 8:00 amEnd Date: 11/23/2024 5:00 pmLocation: Classroom – Acacia 1-2Neurological Dry Needling for Pain Management & Sports Rehabilitation (Foundation course) (3-day) develops the knowledge and clinical skills required to effectively assess and dry needle painful neuromuscular conditions. This course teaches participants to treat the body locally, segmentally, and systemically; we do not divide the body up into upper and lower halves requiring you to take 2 courses before being able to need the entire body. Our system is built on the foundation of Neurological Dry Needling that focuses on peri-neural and perivascular needling to normalize inflammation ( neurogenic ), microcirculation, and reduce soft tissue guarding. Our peripheral nerve mapping model is a logical and systemic process that elevates the clinical application of dry needling by needling more than just muscles. Various needling techniques are practiced including the use of electrical nerve stimulation to provide participants with a variety of safe and effective treatment options.
Learning Objectives
1. Correctly identify and apply proper precautions related to blood borne pathogens related to the clinical practice of dry needling therapy from the course pre-reading.
2. Independently identify and apply dry needling to each of the three types of trigger points (homeostatic, paravertebral and symptomatic) in a given case study.
3. Integrate the physiological mechanisms of needling when developing a treatment plan for a given musculoskeletal condition.
4. Discuss the prevention and management of adverse responses to dry needling based on OSHA requirements with 100% accuracy during case study.
5. Independently apply dry needling treatment safely into musculoskeletal neurotrigger points during lab sessions.
6. Independently evaluate and treat soft tissue and neurogenic dysfunctions relating to a given neuromusculoskeletal condition
7. Correctly defend the IDN system for the treatment of musculoskeletal pain based on the unique neurology and physiology of neuro-trigger points.
8. Independently integrate the IDN system into the participant’s Chiropractic practice in relation to current clinical guidelines.

Precision Chiropractic for ‘Brain Fog’ Recovery in Long-COVID
Regional Event: swStart Date: 11/22/2024 10:20 amEnd Date: 11/22/2024 12:00 pmLocation: Royal Ballroom 6-8Objectives:
1. Viral Hijack of Neuropilin 1 (NRP1) Receptor in Brainstem: Neuropilin 1 (NRP1) located in the brainstem is the prominent receptor that SARS-CoV-2 hijacks for its host cell binding, invasion & initiation of viral infection cycle. The brainstem is a bundle of nerve tissue at the base of the brain that connects cerebrum and cerebellum to the spinal cord. Transmission of nerve signals from brain to other parts of the body is achieved through the brainstem. Brainstem also regulates several vital physiological functions such as heart rate, breathing, and blood pressure.
2. Brain Fog – an Adverse Interplay between Brainstem, Cervical Vertebra, and HMR/D: Vertebra C1, the Atlas, is first bone in the cervical (neck) region, closest to the brainstem. The functional health of the brainstem depends on optimum flow of blood and cerebrospinal fluid. Any misalignment of the atlas (C1) due to viral-induced HMR/D could dysregulate flow/function of these vital fluids and trigger chronic neuro-cognitive challenges, especially ‘brain fog’, a severe debilitating condition widely prevalent among long-COVID patients.
3. Upper Cervical Adjustment – an Effective Chiropractic Protocol to alleviate Brain Fog: Often an overlooked cause of impaired brain function due to brain fog is the upper cervical misalignment. The upper cervical adjustment has been a historical protocol in Chiropractic care for over a century to relieve brain fog symptoms. For decades, upper cervical chiropractors have been trained to detect and correct misalignments and reset brainstem for normal activity. Such holistic multi-facet chiropractic approach could also eliminate back pain, restore energy levels, improve anti-inflammatory fluid flow, reduce stress, and normalize bodily functions.
4. Precision Chiropractic–The New Paradigm Shift: Vertebral (Cervical) Adjustment combined with Metabolic Reset of viral-induced HMR/D could serve as an effective intervention protocol for Chiropractic Care to manage Sub-C
Description: Several SARS-CoV-2 infected individuals display sensory impairments including loss of taste (ageusia), loss of smell (anosmia), and loss of pain sensation, as early clinical manifestations (instead of respiratory symptoms) during the disease onset. Several studies established that ‘Neuro-COVID’ is a distinct viral pathobiology compared to the regular onset of COVID with pulmonary/respiratory involvement. Global clinical data firmly established that SARS-CoV-2 infection targets brainstem, induces hyper-inflammation, leading to severe debilitating neuro-cognitive impairments that may last for months (even years) in COVID-19 survivors (those RT-PCR negative for the virus). Several Global Pandemic Surveillances reported that nearly 500 million individuals are suffering from long-COVID, a viral-induced human metabolic reprogramming/ dysregulation (HMR/D). Notably, about 30% of such affected population exhibit a plethora of neuro-cognitive impairments. ‘Brain Fog’ with characteristic poor memory, difficulty in thinking, mental clarity or concentration, stands out as a major persistent manifestation among long-COVID patients. Viral-induced HMR/D with altered glucose metabolism (the ‘Warburg Effect’), dysregulated tryptophan/kynurenine pathways (with mitochondrial dysfunction, mDys), augmented with hyper-inflammation and oxidative stress could trigger the clinical onset of brain fog. Other neuro-cognitive complications, such as chronic pain, migraine and myalgic encephalomyelitis-chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) are also widely reported in such patient population. As nerve cells or astrocytes do not readily regenerate after a severe viral-induced HMR/D, any brainstem dysfunction could ultimately lead to severe lingering health complications among long-COVID patients.Sponsor: HMRDOPrecision Chiropractic Care for Long-COVID Recovery

• Focus on Chiropractic Upper cervical (neck) adjustment and/or specific Spinal realignment protocols to support the above-cited viral-induced HMR/D (Long-COVID) categorized groups.
• ‘Precision Nutrition’ regimen with ‘Metabolic Reset’ for viral-induced HMR/D, with gender-based (AQUA-Redox) & system/category-based (Omega-Redox) protocols,
• Use HMR/D-based metabolic markers as detection assay tools to evaluate patient recovery outcomes from the cumulative Chiropractic Adjustment + Metabolic Reset.Description: This CE program explores the role of chiropractic care to manage and reset Viral-Induced Human Metabolic Reprogram/Dysregulation (HMR/D), with an emphasis on post-acute sequelae of COVID (PASC or Long-COVID) conditions leading to neuro-cognitive and skeleto-muscular impairments. With around 500 million people globally suffering from long-COVID, there is a dire necessity for chiropractors to educate, train and adapt to these emerging health challenges, integrating precision chiropractic care with system-targeted evidence-based bioactive nutrition and integrative healthcare protocols to reset viral-induced HMR/D.Sponsor: HMRDO -

Chad Woolner DC
Dr. Chad Woolner was raised in Portland, Oregon where he began his college studies originally in preparation to enter dental school. During his prerequisite schooling he and his wife were involved in an auto accident. His wife sustained whiplash injuries and began seeing a local chiropractor. As he accompanied his wife to her appointments, he was amazed to see how chiropractic helped his wife. It didn’t take him long to decide that chiropractic was exactly what he wanted to do. After finishing undergraduate schooling, he applied to chiropractic college. Dr. Woolner graduated from the University of Western States in December 2008 with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. After graduation, he moved to the Meridian area with his wife and children.
Since then Dr. Woolner has done extensive post graduate training in a number of areas including advanced clinical nutrition, and functional medicine. As a result of his successes working with thousands of patients, he developed a training program for helping solve chronic health problems naturally. With over 100 doctors in nearly all 50 states and in several different countries, it has become one of the premier post graduate training programs for functional medicine. He has been a featured speaker at several of the largest continuing education conferences throughout the country and each week he reviews cases and provides clinical training for chiropractors, medical doctors, osteopaths and other healthcare professionals seeking to learn better strategies for helping their patients.
He is the co-host of the popular Health Fundamentals podcast and the Laser Light Show. He is a member of the Idaho Association of Chiropractic Physicians and is a strong supporter of Operation Underground Railroad, a non-profit organization involved in the rescue of human trafficking victims. He loves spending time with his family, loves being outdoors and enjoys playing guitar and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
