Critical Response: Emergency Protocols for On-Field Scenarios

Sponsor – FCA Sports Council

Course Description:

This course continues where we left off in the second session: Patient assessment -Evaluation of the Conscious and Unconscious athlete. Starting with Universal Protocols, we will add specific History-Taking and explore the Secondary Survey and the added Vital Signs for emergency medicine. The two-hour class will be a mix of one hour of lecture and one hour of workshop time. This will enable the students to practice on each other and experience the new tasks before them. The course teaches how to implement proper emergency protocols in line with ACBSP® Position Statements and Florida law. Emphasis will be placed on triage, assessment, and legal decision-making required when assisting an athlete on the field of play. Chiropractors will also explore their collaborative role within the sports medicine team, focusing on risk mitigation and rapid care delivery to support optimal outcomes.
