Student Athlete Safety: The New EKG Law and Your Practice Game Plan

Sponsor – Who We Play For, Eclipse

Course Description

Sudden cardiac arrest remains a leading cause of death in young athletes, often revealing heart conditions missed in traditional sports physicals. Florida’s new 2024 ECG requirement was enacted in response to these preventable tragedies, emphasizing early detection and safer athletic participation. The great news is chiropractors are still included as physicians to provide sports physicals, even with these new requirements.

This course will help chiropractors understand the purpose behind the law, the essentials of compliance, and the practical steps for integrating sports physicals and ECGs into daily practice. Attendees will also learn how to avoid common screening pitfalls and create an efficient, accurate workflow. By the end, DCs will feel confident and prepared to support student-athlete safety in their communities.
