Session detailsRegional Event: seStart Date: 05/30/2026 12:30 pmEnd Date: 05/30/2026 2:10 pmLocation: Rio Vista I-IISponsor – Y & S Sports Seminars
Course Description
This CCSP® course module prepares sports chiropractors to perform and interpret sideline concussion assessments using current consensus tools such as SCAT6/SCOAT6, while conducting focused neurological and cervical spine examinations to identify red flags and determine appropriate next steps. Participants will review evidence-based imaging guidelines and develop clinical decision-making skills for referral and multidisciplinary coordination other providers. The program also covers acute concussion management strategies, emphasizing modern concepts of relative rest, early sub-symptom aerobic activity, and targeted rehabilitation approaches including cervical manual therapy, vestibular rehabilitation, and oculomotor training. Special considerations for youth athletes, recurrent concussions, and long-term neurologic risk will be discussed to guide safe return-to-play decisions. The content is developed from the ACBSP Job Task Analysis for CCSP® certification, preparing participants to evaluate, manage, document, and communicate concussion care within a comprehensive sports medicine framework.
Learning Objectives
- Perform or interpret acute and sideline assessments for concussion using established tools (e.g., SCAT6/SCOAT6), including history taking, physical/neurological examination, and recognize red flags.
- Implement evidence-based management strategies, including rest, symptom tracking, graduated return to cognitive and physical activity, and interprofessional referral as needed.
- Apply return-to-play criteria safely, balancing risk, athlete welfare, and performance considerations.
- Prepare for CCSP® exam items related to ‘Evaluate and Manage Concussion,’ including key tasks and knowledge domains as defined in the ACBSP Job Task Analysis.

The Athlete’s Balance Blueprint: Vestibular Science for Stability, Speed & Performance
Session detailsRegional Event: seStart Date: 05/29/2026 2:40 pmEnd Date: 05/29/2026 4:20 pmLocation: Rio Vista I-IICourse Description
The vestibular system plays a critical yet often underappreciated role in athletic performance, influencing balance, coordination, spatial awareness, reaction time, and injury prevention. Acting as the body’s internal orientation and stabilization system, vestibular input integrates with visual and proprioceptive pathways to control posture, movement efficiency, and dynamic stability.
This course explores the clinical application of vestibular science in sports chiropractic practice, focusing on how vestibular function affects athletic performance and injury risk. Participants will examine the neurophysiology of the vestibular system, its role in movement control, and how vestibular dysfunction can contribute to balance deficits, dizziness, decreased coordination, and post-concussion symptoms.
Attendees will learn practical screening methods and rehabilitation strategies that can be integrated into sports chiropractic care to improve athlete stability, neuromotor control, and overall performance. Emphasis will be placed on translating vestibular science into clinically applicable strategies for athletes at all levels of competition.
Learning Objectives
- Describe the anatomy and neurophysiology of the vestibular system and its role in postural control and movement coordination.
- Explain how vestibular, visual, and proprioceptive systems interact to maintain balance and spatial orientation during athletic activity.
- Identify common vestibular dysfunction patterns in athletes, including those associated with concussion, balance impairment, and movement inefficiencies.
- Perform practical vestibular screening assessments appropriate for the sports chiropractic setting.
- Implement vestibular-based rehabilitation strategies designed to improve balance, stability, and neuromotor control.
- Integrate vestibular training into performance enhancement and injury prevention programs for athletic populations.
Wired to Win: The Cerebellum–Extremity Link Every Athlete Needs
Session detailsRegional Event: seStart Date: 05/29/2026 4:50 pmEnd Date: 05/29/2026 6:30 pmLocation: Rio Vista III-IVSponsor: FCA Sports CouncilCourse DescriptionIn high-performance sport, the difference between good and elite often lies in milliseconds, millimeters, and motor precision. At the center of this performance spectrum is the cerebellum—the brain’s command center for coordination, timing, accuracy, and movement efficiency.
This cutting-edge session bridges functional neurology and sports chiropractic by exploring how extremity manipulation acts as a powerful afferent input to the cerebellum, influencing neuromotor control and athletic output.
Dr. Michael Bagnell and Dr. Spencer Baron combine decades of clinical and sideline experience with emerging research to demonstrate how targeted extremity adjustments can produce measurable changes in:
- Proprioception
- Motor accuracy
- Reaction speed
- Movement efficiency
- Neuromuscular coordination
Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how spinal and extremity inputs modulate cerebellar function—and how to apply these principles immediately in both clinical and athletic settings.
This is not theory alone. This is application-driven neurology for real-world performance.
Learning Objectives- Explain the functional role of the cerebellum in coordination, timing, motor learning, and athletic performance
- Describe how extremity manipulation influences cerebellar activity through afferent neurological pathways
- Identify key research findings supporting changes in proprioception, accuracy, speed, and neuromuscular control following joint manipulation
- Differentiate when and why to apply extremity adjustments in performance vs. injury-based scenarios
- Demonstrate specific upper and lower extremity adjusting techniques designed to enhance sensorimotor integration
- Integrate cerebellar-based strategies into sideline and practice settings for immediate performance gains
- Recognize clinical indicators of cerebellar dysfunction and how extremity input can be used as a therapeutic tool

Current research, mechanisms of action, absorption pathways, and regulatory considerations will be discussed to help chiropractors responsibly educate patients within scope of practice.
Learning Objectives
- Define the neuroendocrine system (NES) and endocannabinoid system (ECS) and describe their roles in maintaining physiological homeostasis.
- Explain the interaction between the nervous, endocrine, and endocannabinoid systems in regulating stress responses, inflammation, and neurological balance.
- Identify clinical indicators of neuroendocrine dysregulation commonly observed in chiropractic patient populations.
- Evaluate current research related to magnesium and cannabinoid signaling in neuroendocrine and endocannabinoid pathways.
- Discuss evidence-informed considerations for patient education regarding magnesium and cannabinoid products within chiropractic scope of practice.

Course Description
Advanced therapeutic technologies such as extracorporeal shockwave therapy, spinal decompression therapy, and therapeutic laser are becoming increasingly common in chiropractic practice. This course will review how chiropractors can properly document the use of these modalities to meet clinical, regulatory, and payer expectations. Participants will learn the essential elements of compliant documentation, including establishing medical necessity, treatment planning, clinical indications, progress tracking, and outcome assessment. The session will also address documentation differences when these therapies are provided as cash-based services versus when they are billed to insurance carriers, along with practical strategies to strengthen clinical recordkeeping and reduce documentation-related risk.
The course will also explore the growing mobile concierge practice model as an alternative or complement to traditional brick-and-mortar clinics. Chiropractors will learn how reducing overhead and strategically expanding patient access through mobile services can create new practice opportunities and improve profitability. Key considerations for planning and implementing a mobile approach will be discussed, helping doctors design a simple, flexible practice model aligned with their professional goals.
Learning Objectives
- Identify the essential documentation elements to support medical necessity for shockwave therapy, spinal decompression, and therapeutic laser.
- Document treatment goals, clinical findings, functional outcomes, and patient progress effectively.
- Differentiate documentation requirements for insurance-billed versus cash-based services.
- Apply strategies to ensure regulatory compliance, reduce risk, and prepare for audits.
- Explore key considerations for developing a mobile or concierge practice, including patient selection and service delivery.
- Implement practical tools, technology, and legal/financial approaches to run professional and efficient mobile practice.
